TIME CHANGE! Avalon Mall Concert 1:00 pm this Saturday!
Hi everyone!
We have our annual Avalon Mall concert this weekend.
We've changed the time to a 1pm start (come at 12:30-12:45 to get tuned and organized) in hopes of a bigger audience :-)
We will perform downstairs, in the open space by the Gap where Santa sets up shop at Christmas.
This is a STEP tradition which helps get us out in the public eye!
The more performers the better!
I even played at the mall when I was a kid! ;-p
We'll fill the mall with beautiful music :-)
Please come around 12:30 - 12:45 so we can start at promptly at 1pm.
See you there!

PS: in anticipation of a bigger audience we'll need parents to stick around not only to support their little performers but also to help keep an eye on coats, cases etc. Please don't bring extra items with you because it could get crowded.

CONCERTS: Music at Memorial
Hello Suzuki families!
This is a list of upcoming concerts at the Memorial's School of Music. The concert on March the fifth will be especially interesting to you all, as the violin, viola, and cello will be featured, as well as two of our own teachers! Concerts such as these are so inspiring to young musicians, so you are all encouraged to attend.
Saturday 06 March at 8pm in the D.F. Cook Recital Hall Home Concert Come celebrate with Darryl Cremesco as he conducts his graduating recital with the MUN Chamber Choir. The music he leads (along with a few other works that evening) is certain to be enjoyable fare for choral lovers.

Friday 12 March at 8pm in the D.F. Cook Recital Hall The Trumpet Sings In the orchestra, the trumpet often shouts but rarely sings. Aaron Hodgson explores the lyrical side of this brassy instrument with this program of vocal music written and arranged for the trumpet.

URGENT! chaperones needed for Guelph trip, March 26 to April 1
Dear Parents,
We are well underway planning our exciting trip to Guelph Ontario with our book 4 and 5 class and the Young Virtuosi group. The travel is being subsidized by the federal program SEVEC (www.sevec.ca) but we've hit one MAJOR problem is that we are short on chaperones who can stay the whole time and travel both ways with us. Our dates are March 26 to April 1st. There are two subsidized spots for chaperones and you would be billeted in Guelph. It seems that all of the parents from the travelling group are unable to go, stay for the entire trip or return with us.
If there are any parents who can volunteer to be a chaperone it would be a trip saver!!
Itll be an exciting trip, besides wonderful music we'll be going in to Toronto to the science centre, seeing the Met Opera at the Odeon, and of course shopping! We'll also go to McMaster to see an institute on how music affects the brain and to an industrial farm and then to a Mennonite farm. All extremely interesting!!

Atlantic Canada Suzuki Institute information now available
Hello STEP Families;
The ACSI brochures and application forms are now available online at http://www.suzukinl.ca/acsi.htm . They will also be available at the Februrary 20th group class in pre-addressed return envelopes if you prefer the old-fashioned method!
The deadline for returning the completed forms is May 8. Helen Brunner will be coming back this year so be sure to get your applications in!
